A Haifa Municipality employee was charged Thursday with operating Telegram groups to distribute tens of thousands of sex photos and videos of Israeli women without their knowledge. Some women filed a complaint against Sheikh, reporting depression and anxiety, suicidal thoughts and even attempted suicide as a result of his actions. Some of the women also said that they had left their jobs and found it difficult to find new ones. Almost all the victims reported that they suffered harassment on social media, on their personal cellphones and even on the street.
The United Nations has placed two of its workers on unpaid leave over allegations of sexual misconduct in an official car in Israel. The UN launched an investigation into the second video after it was shared widely on social media last month. The two staff members have been suspended without pay until the investigation into the incident has concluded. Mr Dujarric told the BBC on Thursday their suspension was appropriate "given the seriousness of the allegations of failing to observe the standards of conduct expected of international civil servants".
The United Nations says it is "shocked and deeply disturbed" by footage of an apparent sex act in one of its official cars in Israel. The clip shows a woman in a red dress straddling a man in the back seat of a white 4x4 with UN markings. The video, shared widely on social media, was apparently filmed on a main street by Tel Aviv's seafront. The UN said it was investigating the incident and was close to identifying the individuals seen in the video. Those involved are believed to be staff members of a peacekeeping organisation in Israel, the UN said.
